2025 WINTER BASKETBALL REGISTRATION

The 2025 Winter Junior Basketball Season starts in May and will continue until the end of September.
GRADING
The Marist Basketball Club competes in Basketball ACT’s Junior Premier League and Juniors competitions. In 2024, Basketball ACT returned to a two-season format, with the Winter season from March to September and Summer from October to February.
The Summer Competition is used as a grading season and as such there won’t be another grading session for the Winter Competitions. Where possible, current teams will stay together during the Winter Competition and new players will be placed in a suitable team. Grading will now only occur prior to the Summer Season each year.
NEW PLAYERS
Everyone is welcome at Marist Basketball and we have spaces available for boys at all skills levels. Basketball is all about having fun and working as a team, as well as improving technical basketball skills.
For new players or boys who did not play during the Summer Competition, an individual assessment will be made based on a combination of past experience, previous coach feedback and game play assessment.
If your son is new to basketball in the Winter please email enquiries@maristbasketball.com with his playing history and experience, if any, at the time of registration.
2025 Junior Winter Age Groups

U10 Boys (born 2016). Due to the small number of U10 boys within the Club, we believe their experience and development is best served by incorporating them into our U12 teams. Boys are distributed to teams across the U12 divisions based on their experience and skill. To support this, the Club requests Higher Age Player approval from Basketball ACT for each boy, under their by-laws; and advises coaches and managers if they have Higher Age Players (U10s) in their team.
2025 JPL WINTER SEASON 2025
The 2025 JPL Winter Season registrations will be by invitation only. Invitations will be sent out from 17 February 2025.
TEAM SELECTION
Team lists will be ready at the end of Term 2. Players are asked to please be patient whilst the volunteers work through this process. After teams have been finalised, team managers or coaches will be in touch with parents and carers directly before the season starts on 10 May 2025.

Please remember, boys who want to play basketball are expected to play for Marist which is outlined in the Marist Sports Policy.
