Marist Basketball Club Strategic Plan 2015-18
(21 February 2016)
The Marist Basketball Club Committee is pleased to release an Exposure Draft of the Marist College Canberra Basketball Club Strategic Plan 2015-2018 for Member consideration and comment. The plan will direct the Club’s efforts over the next six seasons to ensure that our players, coaches, referees and club officials can be the best that they can be through the game of basketball at Marist College.
Key Priorities of the Plan are:
• To consolidate the Club’s administrative and operational infrastructure for continued success on and off the court
• Develop talent pathways for every player, coach and referee in the Marist Basketball community
• Consolidate a Marist Way of playing basketball
• For the Club to be a key contributor to the Marist College community
Basis of Plan
You will see that the plan is based on a full playing year (from the start of the summer season to the end of winter); with a commitment to player, coach and referee development over three-years. We see that looking at the player and his role in the playing group over the year (not season-by-season) will enhance team balance and focus individual skills and progression from representing the school in the BACT competition through to potential selection in our Flagship College team program.
Updated Committee Structure
The plan is also based on an updated Committee Structure that sees the President’s role overseeing/administering the Club much as it does now with the Vice-President’s role changing up to become a Basketball Operations Manager utilising an enhanced Age Coordinator structure in support of a more stable/ wider Coaching team for the playing year. We have found out quickly that endeavouring to organise over 80 volunteers per season is not sustainable and the Club/ boy’s development loses momentum in different team builds every season as a result.
